We visited this quirky restaurant, stuck between Main road and the railway line, in December 2016.
Stunning views over the Kalk Bay harbor. Waiters dressed as Che impersonations or island girls floated about.
The before and after:
Just love, love, love the decor - chaotic Kitsch and colorful , because that is just my kind of style! The Cuban decor and religious figures transported us to imagined places. Underlined by accompanying Cuban music, this set the sexy, laid-back mood for a lazy afternoon.

Cape to Cuba - Cubano waiting in anticipation. |
|
Cape to Cuba - the beautiful menu with rich detail about Cuba and the origins of the restaurant. |
For cocktails, we enjoyed mojitos and pina coladas and obviously some others, but the names escape me now.
|
Cape to Cuba - very satisfying mojito cocktail |
|
Cape to Cuba - pina colada cocktail. |
Fresh, fresh oysters to set the mood...
|
Cape to Cuba - beautiful oysters. |
There were so many interesting items on the menu, but unfortunately one is limited to one or two during a short visit. For mains we ordered the ribs and fillet steak in chocolate sauce. Stunning. Needless to say that Cubano was not very keen on sharing his ribs, but I managed to steal a small piece for tasting.

Cape to Cuba - delicious rack to ribs. Not to be shared! |
|
Cape to Cuba - chocolate fillet steak in a chocolate-chili sauce. So soft and tender. The sauce is an excellent companion. |
One of the most inspiring restaurants in South Africa - in my opinion. The food was great and really fresh. Definitely a place that we can recommend, creating happy memories. Please post a comment if you visited this merry place and I hope your experience was as good as ours!
Sounds decadent! Would definitely visit when in Kalk Bay again.
